Questions about selling your collection
Here we answer common questions about selling your music collection, from suitable formats and an initial assessment to collection and payment. If your question remains unanswered, please get in touch with us personally.
Do you buy music cassettes?
No, we do not buy music cassettes for quality reasons. Our focus is on vinyl records and CDs.
Can I offer you shellac records?
No, shellac records are not part of our buying range. When buying records, we concentrate on vinyl.
Do you take VHS or other video cassettes?
No, we do not buy VHS, Betamax or S-VHS tapes. Music videos on DVD or Blu-ray may be of interest to us.
Are there genres you do not buy?
We have no demand for Schlager, folk music, easy listening, opera, operetta, orchestral music, compilations or hit collections. Schlager on 7-inch singles is an exception.
Do you buy DVDs and Blu-rays?
Yes, particularly concert recordings, music documentaries and artist biographies. For films, we are interested in larger collections of 1,000 items or more. Tell us briefly what is available.
How large should my collection be?
Our focus is on larger collections, from several hundred to many thousands of items. Include the approximate quantity and formats in your enquiry so we can discuss whether the collection is a good fit.
I have inherited a collection. Can you help?
Yes, we also buy music collections from estates. You do not need to know every title. The formats, approximate quantity and location help us make an initial assessment. We buy music media, but do not provide full house clearances.
Will you pick up the collection?
Yes, we pick up suitable collections anywhere in Germany. We agree on the date and transport arrangements with you in advance.
When and how will I be paid?
We pay the agreed purchase price in cash when we collect your items. Bank transfer is also available on request. We agree on the payment method before the handover.
How do I offer you my collection?
Use our enquiry form and tell us the approximate quantity, formats and condition of your collection. We will then call you to discuss the details. You can also call us directly if you have questions.
Can I offer records and CDs together?
Yes, mixed collections can also be of interest. Select the formats available in the form and, if possible, describe how the collection is divided between records, CDs and other media.
Which vinyl formats are you looking for?
We buy LPs, 12-inch maxi singles and 7-inch singles. As well as the format, the musical genre and condition are particularly important for an initial assessment.
Are you interested in maxi CDs?
Yes, we consider maxi CDs as well as CD albums. Select them as a separate format in the form and describe the genres in your collection.
Which musical genres particularly interest you?
We are looking for rock, krautrock, progressive rock, metal, punk, jazz, avant-garde, soul, reggae, hip-hop, film music and world music, among others. If you are unsure how to classify your collection, name a few representative artists or titles.
Do you buy classical music?
Rare classical recordings and contemporary classical music may be of interest. We have no demand for general opera, operetta or orchestral collections. Please describe any special recordings as specifically as possible.
Are international and foreign-language recordings of interest?
Yes, particularly world music from Africa, the Arab world, India, Turkey, Latin America and Southeast Asia. Where possible, name the region, musical style or a few artists.
Can I offer an archive collection?
Yes, we are also interested in larger holdings from archives and music journalists. Details about the quantity, formats, musical focus and condition are helpful.
Do you buy stock from a business closure?
Yes, music collections from business closures may also be suitable. Describe the formats and approximate quantity. We will discuss practical arrangements and possible dates with you personally.
Are DJ and nightclub collections of interest?
Yes, we are also interested in nightclub collections. Describe the genres, formats and average condition, including any significant signs of wear.
How should I describe the condition of my collection?
The form lets you estimate the average condition on a scale from 0 to 10. Use the text field to mention scratches, damaged sleeves or moisture damage, for example. An honest rough assessment is more helpful than a high rating.
Do I have to count every item?
An approximate quantity is enough for the first enquiry. If you only know the number of shelves or boxes, mention that in the text field and make clear that the item count is an estimate.
Do I need a complete list of titles?
A complete title list is not needed for the first contact. Formats, approximate quantity, condition and a few details about genres or artists are a good starting point. We can discuss further details together.
Can I upload photos through the form?
The current enquiry form does not offer photo uploads. Start by describing your collection in the text field. If pictures would help with the assessment, we can agree on a suitable way to share them when we talk.
Which details help assess the value?
Artists, genres, editions and condition are among the relevant details. The number of items alone says little about their value. Mention special pressings or editions if you know about them.
Can I use online asking prices as a fixed sale value?
Online asking prices do not necessarily reflect actual sale prices. Edition, condition and demand can make a substantial difference. Selling items individually and selling an entire collection are also different approaches.
What should I do about damaged or incomplete items?
Mention damage, missing sleeves or incomplete sets in your enquiry. This helps us make a more realistic assessment. We will use your description to discuss whether the overall collection is suitable.
Should I clean the collection before enquiring?
There is no need for extensive cleaning before the first enquiry. Avoid harsh cleaning products or unsuitable methods that could damage records and sleeves. Describe their current condition.
Which location details do you need?
Please include the town or postcode where the collection is located in the text field if possible. We will agree on the exact address and other details when we speak to you.
Should I mention stairs, basements or difficult access?
Yes, details about the floor, lift, basement, parking and access help with planning. Also mention if the collection is spread across several rooms or locations.
How soon will I hear back?
We process enquiries as soon as possible, but cannot promise a fixed response time here. Replies may take a little longer at weekends. You can call us directly with questions.
